Educational Alliance Links BBA Members with Buckhead Students
ATLANTA – Under the auspices of the Buckhead Business Association, Jill Heineck, President of Heineck & Company @ Keller Williams Realty, recently formed the BBA Education Alliance in order to enable BBA members to share their skills and talents in a meaningful way with area students.

“Our Education Alliance Committee works to establish alliances with, and show support of, Buckhead area schools. The committee does this by coordinating BBA members to get involved: participate in community school events, sponsor special projects, and engage the school with its business community,” noted Heineck. “Right now, we are working with Garden Hills Elementary School and North Atlanta High School, and we hope that we will be able to expand our activities to other public and private schools in the Buckhead area next year. This is one way for us in the BBA to give back – and get back to our civic roots.”

Building the library and constantly stressing literacy are major themes at Garden Hills Elementary School.  BBA recently purchased more than 60 books for Ms. Bromberg’s second grade class room. In addition to this financial support, six BBA members took time recently to come to the school and read from these books to two different classes. “The students loved it,” remarked Amy Wilson, principal of Garden Hills Elementary School. “But it was obvious that the adults had just as much fun, spending time getting to know the children and sharing their own favorite stories!”

At North Atlanta High School, the BBA Education Alliance is setting up a “Brown Bag Lunch” series where BBA members are invited to share their professional insights and tips with rising juniors and seniors. During these lunches, topics of discussion will be tied to material that is being taught in the classrooms. Subjects may range from office politics and business etiquette to job interview tips and explanations about what a certain job entails.  The official BBA BBL sponsor is Pizzeria Venti.

“We strongly support the efforts of our new BBA Education Alliance and appreciate Jill’s determination to involve all our members,” said Heather Wright, BBA president. “This is yet another any way in which our organization makes a difference in Buckhead.”

The mission of this committee is to bring awareness to, and build relationships with, Buckhead schools; while engaging the BBA membership and the business community in support of these schools.

The vision is to see BBA as the catalyst and predominant Buckhead-based community organization providing interactive support to Buckhead schools.

Do you have experience and expertise that could benefit students of Buckhead? Why not share them as a presenter Career Day, as a judge at an academic fair, or as a speaker at one of BBA’s BBL (Brown Bag Lunch series)?
