Atlanta – Steven Alexander, the principal and president of Buckhead-based National Guaranty Mortgage Corporation, was named Broker of the Year for 2009 at the Georgia Association of Mortgage Brokers’ awards luncheon last month.

The Association (www.GAMB.org), which was founded in 1985, is a non-profit organization formed to promote a positive origination and lending environment for mortgage brokers and consumers. Each year, the GAMB membership nominates and votes to recognize a Broker of the Year Awards who exemplifies the finest standards and accomplishments, emphasizing ethics and integrity; responsiveness to customers; enthusiasm; industry education; and volunteerism to the association, the mortgage industry and the community.

Alexander, who is a 23-year veteran of the industry, also was 2009 President of GAMB; his term concluded in January. The Association is the state affiliate for the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (www.namb.org).

“It is an honor to be recognized by my peers,” says Alexander, “especially in an organization populated by so many talented professionals. It’s a phenomenal way to conclude a year in which I was privileged to serve alongside so many of them at a challenging but exciting time in our industry.”

McCrary became GAMB executive director September 1 when Asset Management & Associations Services (AMAS) became the new management company for the Association. AMAS also manages the Atlanta Board of Realtors, among other groups.
