Safety tips - Safety is important for each of us in all aspects of our lives. Courtesy of Atlanta Financial Center - Safety Tips from Hines Property Management and Security Offices  Contact numbers: Atlanta Police Zone 2: 404-848-7231, Emergency 911

  •  Always stay alert, watchful and aware of your surroundings. Pay attention to your intuition; it is your first line of defense. Walk with confidence. Let someone know your schedule.
  •  Always park in well-lit areas and as close to your destination as possible.
  •  When you’re parked, always lock your car doors & store shopping bags, purses and other tempting valuables out of sight, preferably in your trunk. Do not leave laptops or valuables in your car.
  •  In public places, keep purses closed and close to your body; men should carry their wallets in a breast pocket.
  •  Be discreet. Don’t flash large sums of money. Keep track of your credit cards; tear up your carbons and save your receipts. Keep a list of all credit card numbers in a safe place.
  •  Have your car key in hand before you start through a parking lot. When you get to your car, look around. Check the door handles and locks. Look under the car and in your back seat. Carry a whistle or personal alarm on your key chain.
  •  Teach your children their full names, address and phone number. Make sure they know to go to a store clerk or security if you ever become separated. Tell them never to go into a parking lot alone, and when possible accompany them to the restroom. Make sure they have enough money for a phone call.
  •  If someone approaches you as you are leaving a building, return to the building immediately and contact security.
  •  If someone stops you to ask for assistance, do not get out of your car. If someone approaches your car, lock the doors, turn on your headlights and sound your horn. Drive to the nearest police station.
  •  If someone demands your keys, give them up and anything else that is demanded. Do not get into a car with anyone. Go to security or police. If your house keys are stolen, replace the locks immediately.
  •  When possible, don’t use an automated teller machine by yourself. Be aware of surroundings during your transaction.
  •  Don’t leave purses or other valuables on desks while at work. Secure them. You can help deter crime by reporting any suspicious activity to security or the police.
